Royal L. Allred, 85, died July 24, 1982, in a Salt Lake hospital.
Born April 30, 1897, Spring City, Utah, to Reuben W., Jr., and Clara Robinson Allred. Married Elva Mortensen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 22, 1918. She died March 18, 1981. Life-long resident Spring City, attended schools there. Veteran World War I, serving in the U.S. Army Cavalry. Farmer, stockman, raised sheep. Rode and trained horses. Sanpete County King Cowboy in 1961. Avid sportsman; played baseball for many years on the town team. Spent much time out of doors, an avid hunter; he loved the mountains. Active church worker with his wife, served several years as ordinance workers in the Manti LDS Temple. Served in the Sunday School superintendency in the ward bishopric for eight years and in the stake high priests quorum. Active in civic affairs supporting and working with many community projects. He loved people, especially children, and had many friends in all walks of life.
Survived by: one daughter, Mrs. Gerald E. (Leila Ruth) Nielson, Salt Lake City; three sons, Royal N., Saudi Arabia; Roger M., Spring City; Ned A., Provo. 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Vero (Iva) Aiken, Spring City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 1 p.m., Spring City 1st Ward, where friends may call one and one-half hours prior to services. Burial Spring City Cemetery.
