Chester P. Appelget, 93, of Hamilton Township, died early Thursday morning, October 22, 2015 at Spring Village at Pocono in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of the late Margaret S. (Steward) Appelget who died August 20, 1985.
Born July 21, 1922 in Port Washington, NY, he was a son to the late Stephen and Jane (Barclay) Appelget and lived in Monroe County since 1980 moving from Succasunna, NJ.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army in the Pacific Conflict.
A graduate of Rider University, he worked as an accountant for Picatinny Arsenal until his retirement. After retiring he worked part-time in construction with his son-in-law, Kent Phillips.
Chester volunteered at Pocono Medical Center for over 20 years.
Surviving are his four children, Barry Appelget and his wife Linda of Greensboro, NC, William Appelget and his wife Peg of Beach Haven, NJ, Joan Phillips and her husband Kent of Hamilton Township, and Russell Appelget and his wife Jeanie of Houston, TX; ten grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a great grandson, Ryes Thomas; and his companion Linda Granat.
Burial at Custard's Cemetery in Bartonsville.
