Abbie Stewart MacArthur, 95, died July 3, 2011, at home.

Born on Sept. 11, 1915, she led a long and exemplary life selflessly taking care of her loved ones.

A longtime resident of Merrimack, she moved from Massachusetts to Reeds Ferry in 1946, residing there until she moved to Hooksett in 2003 to live with her son Gary and his wife Linda.

After retiring from Foster Beef Co., she began working for the Hospice Program in Nashua until she was 86.

She said, "I take care of old people."

She was predeceased by her husband, Willard, and stepson Kenneth.

Her family includes sons John and Gary; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers Cal, Curtis, and Donald Ferren; nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: There will be a memorial service at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice Department, Manchester.
