Cheryl was born in Pendleton, OR, November 28, 1945, to Walter Corley and Eulenna Seehafer. She graduated from Ione High School in 1963, she and her best friend Betty Lou, graduated Nursing School in 1965. Cheryl married Kenneth Dale Coe on May 2, 1970. They were the first ones to be married at the Elgin Christian Church. For many years Cheryl worked at Boise Cascade, working graveyard pulling green chain. Ken worked days at the Husky Station and Cheryl worked nights so they could juggle kids. Ken & Cheryl purchased Consolo's Pizza Parlor and operated it for several years, until the fire at Odie's.
Cheryl then opened TLC Estates, an Adult Foster Care home where she cared for people who needed help but not to the level of a nursing home. She truly loved nursing and caring for people. She later returned to working at Valley View Nursing Home in La Grande, also graveyard shift up until May of 2013. She loved to do many things: Years ago, she played on the Volleyball town team and was at one time the Secretary for the Elgin Stampeders. She was an active member of the Elgin Health District Board, and a member of the Lions Club, and she was even a star…. Eastern Star that is. She loved to go the mountains, picking huckleberries, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling to mention some.
Cheryl is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Coe, Carmen Pearson and son-in law Mike Pearson of Elgin. Grandchildren, Christopher Allen Mata, Brittany Edgemand, Ashley Lynn Gentry, Jamie Norton, Jesse Gentry and many great grandchildren. Not to mention so many close friends in the community. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Kenneth Dale Coe, her mother Eulenna "Lennie" Vaughn, father Walter Corley, and her stepfather Charles Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to the Elgin Lions Club at PO Box 1175 Elgin Oregon 97827 or Elgin Fire Department's Operation Santa PO Box 431 Elgin, OR 97827.
