Daughter of Vaughn Nichols and Lillian Vedell Shook. She retired from Nichols Department store where she was the receiving and shipping manager. After her husband passed away, she worked in various retirement homes. She was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Eugene Houston; brothers, Randall Lovell, Perry Shook, Robert Lynn Shook and Freddie Shook; and sister, Viola Nichols. Survivors include her brother, Chester W Shook of Demorest; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Webb (Ronnie) and Kathy Archer (Mike) of Clarkesville.
