Alvia Hazel Apperson George Stiffler age 75 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday August 15, 2022 at her home.

She was born on October 14, 1946 in St. Louis, Mo, the daughter of Louie and Helen (Blackburn) Apperson. She was married on January 13, 1972 to Frank George who preceded her in passing on July 7, 1992. Alvia met Virgil "Ed" Stiffler and they were married February 9, 2002 in Jefferson City, Mo. He preceded her in passing on March 31, 2011.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Alvia was a graduate of Eldon High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Southwest Baptist University.

She was employed by the state of Missouri for over 20 years and worked as a secretary for Southridge Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member for many years.

Alvia's greatest gift to the world was her selfless and caring heart. She made it a point to remember birthdays and anniversaries of family, friends and fellow church members and sent cards to brighten their day. She was an avid reader, collecting thousands of books over the years and sewed countless pillows and blankets as gifts for family. She was happiest when enjoying a Dr. Pepper, some comfort food and being surrounded by her grandchildren and beloved cats. Alvia loved to see beautiful countryside, taking many driving trips with her husband, Ed. She will be remembered for her fierce independence, infectious smile, and loving thoughtfulness.

Survivors include: her children, Ryan Stiffler (wife, Mechelle) of Holts Summit, Mo., Jeff Stiffler of Jefferson City, Mo., Laurel Stiffler of Shawnee, Ks. and Angela Stiffler of Independence, Mo.; her siblings, Larry Apperson, Priscilla Walkup, Lynn King, Jack Vanarsdall and Shannon Wagner,; eight grandchildren, Bailey, Klara, Cael, Malik, Xavier, Aubrianna, Destiny and Stiven; one great granddaughter, Aleksandra; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first and second husband.

Visitation for Alvia will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the Freeman Chapel with Ryan Stiffler officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday at Allen Cemetery near Eldon, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the River Region Library in Jefferson City, Mo.
