Louis B. Wurth, 76, of Remsen, died Saturday, Sept 2, 1995 at his home near Remsen after a two week illness.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Con-celebrating the Mass were Rev. John J. McGuirk of Remsen, Rev. Merlin Schrad of Auburn, Ia., and Rev. Richard Ball of Merrill, assisted by Deacon Allen Weiler. Burial was in the parish cemetery under direction of the Fisch Funeral Home.
Mr. Wurth was born July 19, 1919 at Paducah, Kentucky, the son of George and Fredricka (Weitlauf) Wurth. He was raised, educated and worked in the Paducah area. At the age of 18 he moved to Florida where he was a farm laborer.
He married the former Doris Arens on May 3, 1943 at Culver City, Calif. and they made their home in Los Angeles where they were both employed in the shipyards. In June of 1945 they returned to the Remsen area where they were engaged in farming until retiring on the farm in 1981.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the board of directors of the Farmers Savings Bank in Remsen.
Surviving are his wife, Doris of Remsen; seven daughters, Mrs. Dick (Judy) Majeres of Le Mars, Mary Wurth of Pacific Grove, Calif., Mrs. Royce (Peg) Johnson of Iowa City, Ia., Mrs. Michael (Audrey) Beelner of Remsen, Mrs. Wally (Jean) Griffin of Woodstock, Calif., Mrs. Tim (Marge) Dunn of Eagan, Minn., and Mrs. Forrest (Marilyn) Meyer of St. Paul, Minn.; a son, Michael Wurth of Chicago, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Roy F. of Terre Haute, Ind., and Martin J. of Paducah, Ky.; and a sister, Mrs. George (Barbara) Lott of New Richmond, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Maurice J. Wurth; and two sisters, Mrs. Aaron (Vida) Greenwell and Miss Agnes Wurth.
Casket bearers were Bob Alesch, Phil and Rich Arens, Dan Jaminet, and Gary and Roger Konz. Honorary pallbearers were LeRoy and Louis Bunkers, Dwayne Douvia, Charles Neuroth and Bob Wittkop.
Knights of Columbus honorary pallbearers were Donald Delperdang, Loyal Homan, Lorne Nilles, Donald Ortmann, Donald Schiltz and Norman Treinen.
