Lou Abram (August 11, 1932 – February 15, 2022)
In loving memory
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lou Abram on February 15, 2022 at Polson Care Home. Predeceased by husband Art in 2016, Lou will be missed by daughter Allana and grandchildren Kiefer and Chloe of Surrey, and daughter Connie of Vernon.
Born in Edmonton and after marrying in 1952, Lou and Art set off for an adventure in the Ashcroft area before finally settling in Vernon in the early 60s.
After retiring from the Vernon School District, Lou embraced early retirement to travel and pursue her passions. Together, Art and Lou travelled through the western States, Scotland, Cuba and Panama, and enjoyed numerous trips to Hawaii and Alaska. With travel, volunteering and spending cherished time with their daughters and grandchildren, retirement was never still.
Lou was passionate about volunteering, which both served her community and filled her heart. Her contributions touched many, including the Samaritans Purse Shoebox Project, Alliance Church, Eagle Bay Camp and Gleaners hat project and processing plants. Her volunteering continued to age 87 when health challenges forced her to pass the torch.
We wish to express gratitude to the staff at Polson Care Home for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Lou in her final months, and the kindness shown to family and friends.
As an expression of sympathy, those wishing may send a donation in memory of Lou to the North Okanagan Valley Gleaners Society, North Okanagan Hospice Society or a charity of choice. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online obituary at www.MyAlternatives.ca.
Funeral service to be held on Friday, March 25 at 2pm at Faith Baptist Church, 3908 27th Street, Vernon, with Pastor Larry Woelke officiating.
