Mrs. Nannie J. Alley, 68, succumbed at her home on South Main street Saturday morning at 9:20 o'clock. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy she suffered June 25 as she was entering the home of her son, Charles. Head injuries she sustained when she fell to the sidewalk following the stroke were given as contributory causes of death. Mrs. Alley never fully regained consciousness from the time of the stroke until she expired.

A native of Rockingham county, Virginia, Mrs. Alley came to Lewisburg from Virginia 19 years ago and had resided here ever since.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the local Reformed church, with Rev. H. Jesse Baker, pastor of the Prices Creek Church of the Brethren in Monroe township, officiating. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery here. Mrs. Alley had been a member of the Church of the Brethren for almost a half century. She joined a church in Virginia in 1889 and later transferred her membership to the Prices Creek church.

Survivors are four sons, Charles and Joseph Alley of Lewisburg, A.J. Alley of Troy, and H. B. Alley of Dayton: two daughters, Mrs. Effie Jackson of Englewood and Mrs. Mary Uhrig of Fidelity; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Her husband, the late William Alley, died 25 years ago.
