Helen R. Brown, 96, of Eaton, formerly of West Manchester, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. Born Dec. 9, 1904, in Savona, Ohio, she was the daughter of Orland L. and Olive C. (Bowman) Ashbaugh. Mrs. Brown was a member of Twin Creek Chapel Church, West Manchester.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard L. Brown, who died Nov. 20, 1981; brothers, Stanley Ashbaugh and Fred Ashbaugh; and a sister, Lorene Wogoman.

Survivors include nieces, Beth Blankenship and Karen Klips, both of West Alexandria, and Louise Hawthorne of California.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, with the Rev. Rodney W. Shelley officiating. Burial will be in Twin Creek Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Medical Transport, Inc., 127 W. Main St., Eaton, OH 45320.
