Callie Mae Price

Merkel - Callie Mae Price, 89, of Merkel, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Jones, pastor of Caps Baptist Church, and the Rev. David Bugg, pastor of First Baptist, will officiate. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.

Born June 30, 1893 in Kaufman County, she lived in Merkel since 1922. She was a member of First Baptist Church Dorcas Sunday School Class. She married George Lafayette Price on Nov. 21, 1909 in Pruitt. He died Jan. 3, 1954.

She is survived by two sons, Garland of Trent and Nolan of London, Ark.; three daughters, Mattie Lee Buchanan of Merkel, Clota Elizabeth Crawford of Midland and Callie Oneta Davis of View; a sister, Johnnie Sutton of Los Angeles; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Willie and Cullen, and two daughters, Lora and Doris.
