MARY CORNELIA CARTER McRAE went to be with our Lord on Monday January 28, 2008. She died at the Germantown Methodist Hospital after a short illness. She was born on March 19, 1912 to Rollin H. and Annie Power Carter in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Phillip E. McRae. Also two sisters, Marjorie Caristianos of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Lena Kirkpatrick of Conway, Arkansas. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Chris Mahoney of Memphis, TN; one grandson, Richard Simpson Vaughan III of Lakeland, FL; one sister, Mildred C. Latimer of El Dorado, AR; two step-grand-daughters, Angel Halpern of Memphis and Cheryl Webb of Atoka, TN; five step-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. McRae taught school in Mississippi County, AR for 50 years before retiring in Conway, AR. She has lived in Memphis, TN for the past 8 years. She was a master gardener, Rosarian, PEO member and very active in the American Rose Society. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conway. There will be visitation Wednesday, January 30, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope, AR, followed by graveside services at 1 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Rose Society or the First United Methodist Church in Conway.
