Minnie Pearl was the daughter of William E "Buddy" Kennedy and Georgia Kirkland. She died at the age of 8 from a ruptured appendix. She had 4 older sisters, Jewell, Ruby, Goldie, and Maxine.

As a little girl of 5 years old, I can remember going to their house and Georgia would not let me leave with my Grandpa until I had a least 2 cookies. They were so big! She was 4'11" and could cook and grow all kinds of flowers and plants. Her and my grandmother Bessie were best friends. They lived next to each other. Georgia died from a insect sting. She had an allergic reaction to a yellow jacket. Ironic, because she loved her flowers and plants. They covered the hillside and were all over the porch and in the house. I remember going to my grandparents house in the spring and the hillside was covered with all kinds of daffodils. Maybe that is why it is my favorite flower.

Have a great day,
Janet
