John Butcher was born probably in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in c.1749, SON of SAMUEL BUTCHER SR. & SUSANNAH (LEWIS) BUTCHER. John was raised in colonial Pennsylvania/Virginia and in Loudoun County, Virginia, from the time of its formation in 1757 through the time of his death.

MARRIED: His first cousin once removed, Susannah (Lewis), daughter of Abraham Lewis III & Rebekah (Davis) -- No children

John Butcher DIED near Bloomfield, Loudoun County, Virginia, in October 1804, and he was buried in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery near his parents. John left bequeaths in his Will for the support of the Butcher's Meeting House/Ebenezer Baptist Church/Cemetery & to build a rock wall around the old cemetery.

After his death, his widow, Susannah Lewis Butcher, remarried to Jesse Johnston in c.1805, and she and her new husband were living in Kentucky by 1805-06

Susannah my dear & beloved wife and in her life the plantation I now hold and live on

I give and bequeath at my wifes death the plantation I now live on to the use of the
church formerly called Butchers meeting house but now called Ebenezer to be
rented out one hundred pounds to be put toward walling the graveyard & the balance to go towards the use of said forever
I will my negro Daniel to be rented out or hired until he earns one hundred pounds if
he lives so long which I allow to put to use of said meeting house forever & then I will negro Daniel to be set free & be his own man
