Columba was a Sugpiaq (Alaska native) born on Kodiak Island who was baptized Russian Orthodox. She married Andres, who was also a Sugpiaq born on Kodiak Island and baptized Russian Orthodox. She accompanied her husband to Monterey, Alta California, New Spain, about 1809, where he hunted seals and otters. In failing health, she was baptized "Maria Dolores" at Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmelo (Carmel) on April 24, 1811 (SC Baptism 02812) in order to be buried in the mission cemetery. She died four days later and was buried in the mission cemetery (SC Death 01960). Her husband joined her there on October 5, 1811 (SC Death 01983).
