John Lewis Cox, 86, of old Eccles Road, died at 9 a.m. Sunday following a long illness.
He was born in Logan County, June 7, 1884, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Meadows Cox. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Beckley, and a retired electrician for the Lillybrook Coal Co. He had been a resident of Raleigh County for the past 80 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cora Martin Cox, three daughters, Mrs. J.M. Hudson, of Beckley, Miss Naomi Cox of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Joy Curtis of Skelton; four sons, Robert Cox of Chicago, Kenyon Cox of Wichita Falls, Texas, John Cox, Jr. of Beaver, and Aubrey W. Cox of Beckley; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Calfee Funeral Home pending completion of arrangements.
