MERTON W. ADCOCK - Wednesday - November 13, 2002
Merton W. Adcock, Sr., 60, went home to his Lord on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002. He passed away peacefully in the company of his loving wife Delores, many friends and family members.
Merton was born Jan. 22, 1942 to Clyde and Mary (Flora) Adcock at Chelan. He was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter and camper.
Merton worked over 24 years at Alcoa, and retired in 1996. Merton and Delores moved to the Okanogan Valley in 1995.
He is survived at home by his wife of 14 years, Delores.
In addition, he is survived by a son, Merton Jr. of Wenatchee; his daughter, Mary Jones of Spokane; his stepson, David Richardson and David's wife Cheryl of St. Joseph, MO; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Merton III, Travis and Jennifer Adcock of Cottonwood, AZ, Rachel, Stephanie and Kelsey Jane Adcock of East Wenatchee, Hannah Huffman of Wenatchee, Joyce Huffman of Spokane, and Eddie Huffman of Tonasket, Christopher Huffman of Spokane, and Karson Allen Adcock of Cottonwood, AZ. He is also survived by his sister, Dora Lee Mead and her husband Bob of Chelan; his five brothers, Jim Adcock and special friend Mae Morgan of Malaga, Riley Adcock of Coos Bay, OR, Sam Adcock and wife Judy of Omak, Louie Adcock and wife Ruth of Newport, OR, and Owen Adcock of Wenatchee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Mervin (his twin brother) and Bob Adcock, two sisters, Lily Jane and Elizabeth Driver (Adcock).
Merton was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 22 1/2 years, and had been an active and dedicated member of that program. Merton helped many people over the years, and had thousands of friends in the AA program.
At Merton's request, there will be no funeral. There will be A Celebration of His Life on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Omak Union Hall in Omak, which will include a potluck.
