Christian Frederick Frommer was "Born at Sea" during his parent's emigration from Wuerttemberg, Germany to Galveston, Texas. He grew up to become a successful bookbinder, working in Galveston, San Antonio, and finally San Francisco. He married Virginia Green on February 7, 1871, in New Orleans, Louisiana. They had five children in 20 years of marriage. Christian died on January 31, 1905, in San Francisco, California, at the age of 58. He was cremated at the former Oddfellows Cemetery there. His ashes were given to his daughter Blanche Frommer Bentz.
