Hilda Gray was born February 6, 1935, in Whigham, GA, the daughter of Paul Augustus and Mattie Hollingsworth Gray. She was a graduate of Mitchell County High School. Hilda lived most of her life in Southwest Georgia where most remember her being the face of the bank. Hilda worked at C & S Bank and later retired from Park Avenue Bank. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Hilda was the 4-1-1 of Bainbridge. She loved people and enjoyed every minute of doing for them. She cooked for the masses on most any occasion, served as President of Service Club, and was affectionately known as "Rosie" when she was Troop Leader for the Brownies & Girl Scouts. One year, Hilda managed to make the uniforms for the BHS Band. "Visiting" was her favorite pastime though she obviously enjoyed sewing too. She was an avid reader but only when weather permitted; otherwise, she was in the flower beds. Traveling and dancing with Bobby brought a smile to her face. The joy of her heart was found in her children and grandchildren. One of a kind. Friend for life. Love never ending.

Survivors include her four daughters and a son in law of Bainbridge, GA, Athens, GA, San Antonio, TX, and Foley Beach, AL; two sons and a daughter in law of Jackson, MS, and Bainbridge, GA; her 9 grandchildren and their spouses; her 13 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Stevens; her son, Michael Earl "Mickey" Connell; and her siblings, Christine Harrell, MC Gray, and LB Gray.
