He was the son of Jasper Barrentine and Ethel Carter Barrentine, and the widower of Lessie Taylor Barrentine. He was a retired painter. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Letha Deans Barrentine; and half brothers, Bill Barrentine and Robert Barrentine.
