Fred Wayne Eggleston, 89, of Memphis, Missouri passed away February 6, 2008, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri where he had been a resident since September 11, 2007. The son of Fred Clay and Nellie (Merritt) Eggleston, he was born October 18, 1918 in Brock, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Ruth Herring on June 15, 1940 and to this union a son and a daughter were born, Max William and Bonny Jo. He also raised a nephew, Phillip Irion. Ruth preceded him in death on November 18, 1958. On May 19, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lucile Rupe Fenton and she also preceded him in death on May 2, 1997. Wayne was a farmer and LP gas delivery man for 17 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. Survivors include his son, Max Eggleston and wife Shirley of Memphis, Missouri and daughter Bonny Hatfield and husband Stanley of Arbela, Missouri; one step daughter Shirley Barker of Bloomfield, Iowa; six grandchildren, Rodney Hatfield of Arbela, Missouri, Lorie Cooper and husband Don of Glendale, Arizona, Robie Hatfield and wife Kim of Gillette, Wyoming, Kevin Eggleston and wife Lora of Memphis, Missouri, Kelley Frazier and husband Mike of Memphis, Missouri, Kristi Boyer and husband Brad of Moberly, Missouri; 13 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hatfield and wife Talia, Brandon Hatfield, Megan Hatfield, Desiree Byrne and husband Jim, Bryce Cooper, Jacob Hatfield, Shelby Eggleston, Shaye Eggleston, Kelsey Frazier, Kiley Frazier, Brett Boyer, Lindsey Boyer and Brandon Boyer; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Elias Hatfield, Ian Hatfield and Cooper Byrne. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife Ruth, wife Lucile, brother Clark Eggleston and wife Faye, sister Jean Irion and husband Archie, nephew Phil Irion and granddaughter-in-law Donna Hatfield. Graveside services were held in the Brock Cemetery on Saturday, February 9, 2008 with Joe Fulk officiating. Casket bearers were Kevin Eggleston, Robie Hatfield, Nicholas Hatfield, Brandon Hatfield, Jacob Hatfield, and Brett Boyer. As an expression of sympathy, a memorial may be made to the Brock Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
