Patrick J Courtney, age 70, of Wooster, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 26, 2022.
Patrick was born on June 5, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the oldest of seven siblings born to Robert and Patricia Courtney.
Pat was a proud member of the Saint Joseph High School Class of 1970, Cleveland, Ohio.
He proudly served in the US Marine Corps, stationed overseas during the Vietnam War. He was a professor of psychology at the Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, Ohio.
Patrick enjoyed many sports including wrestling, baseball and football. He was an active member at Church of the Saviour in Wooster. One of his favorite hobbies was spending time with his grandkids who affectionately call him, "Pop".
In addition to his beloved wife, Margie L. Bourne, whom he married on June 20, 1981, he will also be dearly missed by many including his children, Christopher Courtney of Dayton, Rachael Kolis of Chillicothe and Sarah Armijo of Monroeville; son in laws Samuel Kolis and Miguel Armijo; grandchildren Eliseo, Lilia and Belén (Sarah); six siblings, many nieces nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022, 1:00 PM at Church of the Saviour, 480 Fry Rd. in Wooster with Pastor Brent Durham officiating. Interment will then follow at Wooster Cemetery where military honors will also be conducted.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2 hours prior (11:00 AM - 1:00 PM) to services at the church.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored to be serving the family.
