He graduated from Waycross High School in 1953. Pomeroy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Theology degree from Aurora College (University) in 1958 and a Masters of Social Work degree from Florida State University in 1960. Pomeroy began his career at Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, Suwannee County, Florida in 1958. He was an ordained minister in the Advent Christian Church and was the President of the Florida Conference of Advent Christian Churches and the Advent Christian Village on his retirement in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jerry Lynn (Harris) Carter, 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He is laid to rest at his beloved Advent Christian Village at their Bixler Memorial Gardens East Cemetery.
