R. R. Bacon Succumbs to Long Illness

Funeral services for Ruben R. Bacon, 84, president of Bacon and Edwards Inc. will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Osborn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. B. W. Cook, pastor of Kings Highway Christian Church, and Dr. William E. Wright officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Bacon died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Willis-Knighton Hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Oakwood, Tex., and had resided in Shreveport since 1914. His residence was at 2805 Penick St. He was an elder with the Kings Highway Christian Church. He was a Mason and a member of the Shriner's Joppa Lodge, the Men's Camellia Club and the Shreveport Orchid Society.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Ben Bacon of Shreveport; one brother, Joe D. Bacon of Kerrville, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Mc-Neese of Hillsboro, Tex., Mrs. Tom White of Malone, Tex., and Mrs. C. L. Smith of Arnold, Md.; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Weaver, Donnie Fisher, Ben Bacon Jr., Michael Bacon, F. G. Wardlaw, Sonny Edwards, L. A. Parker, and Grady S. McCarter Jr.

The family has requested that any memorial contributions be sent to a charity.
