Born June 23, 1941 at the family home in New Windsor, Maryland she was the daughter of the late G. Francis and Margaret (Weidner) Kauffman. She was the beloved wife of the late Irving B. Lassiter, Jr., who predeceased her in 1991.
Mary was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1959. She worked as a store manager for Sears and retired in 1993, after 31 years of employment. Her love of working hard continued during retirement and she took a position as manager at JC Penny Catalog Store in Westminster, until its closing-and then worked in the office at Reisterstown Lumber Co. for 17 years.
Mary had a passion for crocheting and participated in Project Linus. She was the director of Deeds of Faith Food Pantry at Crosswind Church and had been a life member of St. James Methodist Church until its closing in 2020.
