WORCESTER/WEST PALM BEACH, FL John A. "Duffy" Aldrin, 85, died suddenly while visiting family in Massachusetts on Sunday, July 31, 2005. His wife Florence (Gregory) Aldrin, died in 1995. He leaves a son, Carl A. Aldrin of West Palm Beach, Fl; a daughter, Sandra Sherwood of Douglas; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Joanne "Charlotte" Preston died in 2000. He was born in Worcester, son of Carl J. and Olga (Soderberg) Aldrin. Mr. Aldrin worked in construction for many years before retiring to West Palm Beach, Fl. He was a member of the Laborers Local 243 in Worcester since 1952 and a former member of the Belmont St. Baptist Church. He loved playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton in late September. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown Street, Suite 3H, Watertown, MA 02472. The Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
