Cynthia M. Cahill, age 75, of Janesville, died on Friday, January 25, 2008, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Mayo Health System, in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, in Janesville, with Fr. Syl Brown, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home, in Janesville, and will continue on Tuesday morning, for one hour prior to services, at the church. There will be a 7:45 p.m. parish rosary, Monday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's choice.

Cynthia May, was born on August 23, 1932, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from South Side High School, in Ft. Wayne, in 1950, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, in 1954, from Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. From 1954 to 1956, Cindy was an instructor for the inaugural class at Mankato State's School of Nursing.

She was united in marriage to Paul Richard Cahill, on April 11, 1956, at St. Ann Catholic Church, in Janesville. Cindy and Paul, resided on their Janesville Township farm, until 1988, when Paul retired from farming, and they moved into Janesville. Cindy retired after 20 years of service from the Janesville Nursing Home, as Director of Nursing. She had many accomplishments during her career, including her certifications in Gerontological Nursing by the American Nurses Association, and Director of Nursing in Long Term Care, by the National Directors of Nursing. In 1999, Cindy, received two state awards, the prestigious MHHA "Distinguished Service Leadership Award", and Minnesota State D.O.N. of the Year by MNDONA. Cindy was a member of many state and national nursing professional organizations. She was a past member of the Waseca Area Hospice Board of Directors, and past member of the Board of Directors for MN Directors of Nursing in Long Term Care. Cindy was an active member of the St. Ann Catholic Church, in Janesville.

She is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Paul) Bjorlin of Prior Lake, Byron "Pat" (Gena) Cahill of Kasson, Gregory Cahill of Houston, TX., Jared (Renee) Cahill of Prior Lake, William (JoAnn) Cahill of Eagan, and Paul (Jodi) Cahill of Janesville; 13 grandchildren; her sister, Edie (Deac) Connor of Stuart, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, on May 11, 2002; by her infant daughter; by her one brother, Warren; and two sisters: Margo and Betty.
