Mr. McCurley was a retired conductor-switchman with the Illinois Central Railroad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Gloster Church of the Nazarene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint McCurley and Willie Virginia Foreman McCurley; one brother, Richard "Buster" McCurley; and one sister, Linda Gene McCurley.

He was survived by his wife, Gwen Arnold McCurley of Gloster; one son, Grant McCurley of Gloster; five brothers, William Davis McCurley of Abingdon, MD, W. C. McCurley of Natchez, Rev. Eugene McCurley of Broken Bow, OK, Rev. Tom McCurley of Monroe, LA and Earl McCurley of Woodville; numerous nieces and nephews.
