ObituEast Palestine – March 19, 2005 – Lotys Louise Nichols, age 100, formerly of Garfield Avenue, East Palestine, died at 2:29 p.m. Saturday at Essex #1 of Salem.

Mrs. Nichols was born January 21, 1905 in East Palestine, a daughter of Emerson and Elizabeth Morrow Davis and had lived in East Palestine since 1929, coming from Oregon.

She had been employed for 20 years as a clothing salesperson for the former Dutchmade Clothing Company, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine where she had served as an elder and belonged to the Womens Circle Group of the church. She was a past president and member of the East Palestine Garden Club; a member of the Church Women United, and had served as a telephone operator for FISH. An avid artist, she was a member of the East Palestine Art Club.

Her husband, Archie B. Nichols, whom she married May 22, 1923 died September 21, 1967.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Parker of Warren and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Lanterman of Leetonia; a son, Donald Bruce Nichols of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 28 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with John R. Selders, Minister of Christ's Church, Boardman, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Memorial Fund of the First United Presbyterian Church, East Palestine.
