Barbara Sue Austin, 79, of McCalla, passed away went home to be with her Lord on July 19, 2022. Sue grew up in Concord and graduated from Hueytown High School. She worked for Liberty National Life Insurance Company and retired as Business Coordinator for the Earl Usher Bessemer YMCA. She was a Member of the Baptist Church at McAdory.

Sue was a faithful pastor's wife and devout Christian, serving in many roles in the church, including pianist, Sunday School teacher, choir member, Vacation Bible School, and many more. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Rev, Richard Austin; parents George and Laurine Roberts, and mary Moody; brothers George "Buddy" Roberts and Tom Roberts; and stepsister Karen Carroll. She is survived by her son David Austin (Michelle); daughter Phyllis Mays (Jim); grandchildren Michael Austin (Natalie), Ryan Austin (Lindsey), Kyler Austin (Elizabeth), Joshua mays (Brittany), and Jenna Mays; great grandchildren Kinsley Austin, Conner Austin, Rylan Austin, and Kaden Austin; brother Paul Roberts (Louise); stepsister Janet Burchfield (David); and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Friday, July 22, 2022, at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Jake McCall officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery.
