Jean Viola (Krepps) Stoltzfus, 89, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully with family at her side Oct.18, 2020.

Born Sept. 17, 1931, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Wesley Harry and Alice (Smith) Krepps.

Her husband, Frederick Petersheim Stoltzfus, whom she married June 6, 1959, preceded her in death Oct. 9, 2014. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Buddy and Glenn; a sister, Betty Sharp; and a son, Philip Calvin.

She is survived by her children, Janalee (Mark) Johnson, Lowell (Amy) Stoltzfus and Zelda Stoltzfus; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by four sisters, Tina Peachey, Peggy Yoder, Helen Zook and Zeb Krepps.

Jean was born on Mechanic Street in Belleville and baptized at Rockville Mennonite Church. She moved to Red Lake, Canada, in the 1950's to work for Irwin Schantz at Northern Light, and met her husband there. After 7 years in Canada, they moved to Belleville where she worked as a homemaker and did secretarial work for several local businesses including Steve Peachey and Caleb Peachey. In 1979, the family moved to Strawberry Lake, Minnesota, where she lived for 34 years.

She enjoyed sewing, reading and a good Bible study. She loved her family and was a prolific letter writer. Famous for her gardens, she enjoyed any handwork. She was full of insight and wisdom. She was a hero.
