A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018, officiated by Rev. Brian MaKray at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 4:30-5:30pm. Richard was born August 20, 1942 in Lexington to Luke Rumley and Mildred Queen. He was preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Eugenia Robertson Rumley; brothers, Robert Rumley, and Grant Wood. Richard is survived by his son, Richard Turner Rumley, and his wife April; three grandchildren, Jessica Rumley Ramirez, Kayla Marie Rumley and Nathan Turner Rumley; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Daube, Beckham Ramirez and Nadia Ramirez.
Richard will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He had a love for fishing and NASCAR. He was a longtime supporter of the Richard Childress Racing team and the Penske Racing group. Mr. Rumley was grateful for the many cherished friendships with the outdoor sportsman community, the linemen he worked with throughout the years, and all of his neighbors.
