Death Summons Mose Lockman which occurred at his home nine miles east of Moravia Monday morning the community lost another of its longtime residents.
Mr. Lockman, born in Indiana, came to this vicinity when a small child and he had lived for almost 54 years on the place where his death occurred. His wife preceded him in death June 4, 1933.
He has many friends in Moravia and vicinity who genuinely mourn his death.
Obituary
Mose Lockman, son of J. J. and Sarah Lockman, was born in Indiana, March 4, 1850 and passed away Jan. 7th, 1935 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 3 days. He was a resident of this vicinity about 81 years, having settled here when the country was new and experienced many of the hardships of the pioneers.
He was united in marriage to Sarah E. Scott, Nov. 7, 1871. To this union were born eight children, Frank Lockman of Unionville, Mrs. Roe Adams, Mrs. John Millemon, and Raula Lockman of Moravia, Mrs. Levi Robinson of Chugwater, Wyoming, Mrs. Homer King of Blakesburg, Mrs. Otto Vantrees of Des Moines and Elbert Lockman of Unionville with whom he made his home. He also leave two brothers and one sister John Will Lockman of near Moravia, Tivis Lockman of Moravia, and Mrs. Margaret Gilliland of near Moravia. Twenty-eight grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive besides a host of other relatives and friends.
He was converted and united with the Christian Church early in life and was a loving and devoted husband and father who will be greatly missed in the home circle and neighborhood.
Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday with Rev. Walter Lagle officiating. Interment was in Sales Cemetery.
