Jimmie Ray Davis, 81, a beloved father and "Tata" and widower of Lois Ackerman Davis, finished his earthly battles and entered his Eternal Home on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Summerville Community Hospice House.

Mr. Davis was born the son of Samuel Rhodus Davis and Bertie Morris Davis on May 23, 1941, at the family homestead in the Oak Ridge Community of Williamsburg County.

He was the first born of four children: Lillian, Polly, and Little Rhodus.

He was a 1961 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He was a retired heavy equipment operator at International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill, where he served for 35 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was an avid outdoorsman loving fishing, hunting, fox hunting, and his annual vegetable gardens. He was member of the Oak Ridge Bay Hunting Club, was the owner of Cedar Creek Fox Pen; the coach of the Sampit Hawk Men's Softball Team; and was a devoted and passionate Atlanta Braves. His love for softball lead him to be awarded best fast softball pitcher in 1997 and again in 2001 for the state of South Carolina. He was a lifelong member of the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church family.

Jimmie and Lois were married August 2, 1961, and celebrated 57 years together.

Their home was blessed with two children, Tony (Bobbi Jo) Davis and Lisa (Lee) Kellahan; four grandchildren, Rae (Jarrod) Jordan, Brandon (Joana) Davis, Karsyn Kellahan, and Kadyn Kellahan; and six great grandchildren, Addyson, Riley, Justin, Landon, Bella, and Wyatt.

He also leaves behind: his sisters, Lillian Powell and Polly Lambert (Arthur): a brother-in-law, Rev. Lloyd Ackerman (Alice); sisters-in-law, Mary Anne Richardson and Martha Ackerman; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Little Rhodus Davis; parents-in-law, Loyd Horace Ackerman and Ozie Lambert Ackerman; his in-laws, Shirley Ackerman, Ed Richardson, and Ronald David Ackerman; her niece, Tammy Ackerman; and nephew, Ron David Ackerman, Jr.

A Home Going Service will be 5:30 PM, Sunday, July 17, 2022, in the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Lloyd Ackerman.

Family and Friends are invited to visit the Davis family at the Davis Hill Place, 72 Sandpiper Rd., Andrews, SC beginning 3-5 PM, Sunday, July 17, 2022, and after the graveside service.
