Mrs. Delphia was one of seven children born to the late Mr. Veal and Mae Woods on September 26th 1930. She lived her entire life in Henderson County and retired several years ago from Brown Shoe Company after almost forty years of service. But, her most important role was as a mother of three boys, wife of the late "Rip" Riffle who died in 2013 and of course being "Granny" to nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. For Mrs. Delphia her life revolved around her grands and great grandchildren and their love in return for her was limitless. She was always protective of her family and one of her favorite quotes was, "Don't get into the water till you learn how to swim." Besides her family, she loved to work outdoors in her yard or garden and did so most every day, regardless of the hot summer temperatures, up to her death. She was meticulous, took pride in her yard, could grow anything and enjoyed staying busy.
Mrs. Delphia is survived by her sons: Stenna Riffle and his wife Perla, Gary Riffle and his wife April and Darell Riffle and his wife Debbie; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley Martin. Preceding her in death were her siblings Paul and Cletus Woods, Irene Maness, Lorene Scott and Dorothy Maness and her grandson, Michael Riffle.
Funeral services for Mrs. Riffle are scheduled for 3:00 PM Friday, July 8th in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Bro. Randall Woods officiating and burial following at Lexington Cemetery.
