Hubert Roscoe Ash, son of Monroe and Frances Lane Ash, was born July 5, 1912, in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, February 9, 2004, in Lake Regional Health Systems, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and four days.
His parents preceded him in death.
Hubert is survived by a brother, Lenford "Dub" Ash, and his wife, Purley, of Camdenton, Missouri; a sister, Alice Stevens, and her husband, Lloyd, of St. Louis, Missouri; a nephew, Mike Stevens, and his wife, Christine, of the State of Florida; two nieces, Reta Collins, and her husband, Greg, of Columbia, Missouri, and Debbie Wilson, and her husband, Bill, of Jefferson City, Missouri; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Matt Collins, Brian Collins, Gabrielle Wilson, Andy Stevens, Kelly Stevens, Heather Stevens, and Stephanie Stevens; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Camden County, and graduated from Stoutland High School. After graduation he was employed by the St. Louis Independent Packing Company and completed a four-year course dealing with all facets of meat packing operations. He entered the Army in 1942, and was assigned to the Meat Inspection Division of the Medical Corps. Upon receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1945, with the rank of Sergeant, he joined the Tobin Packing Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1952, he was promoted to plant superintendent. The Hormel Company later bought Tobin Packing Company, and Hubert remained as plant supervisor until he was appointed the manager of a new Hormel plant being built in Algona, Iowa. Later, he was based out of Austin, Minnesota and was a troubleshooter at Hormel plants around the world. When he retired, he moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Hubert had accepted Christ as his personal Savior and followed the Baptist faith.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed trap shooting and had attended many tournaments. He loved golf and enjoyed playing as often as he could, wherever his travels took him. He also liked to hunt and fish. He was a great storyteller and was always ready to tell a story about one of his hunting or fishing trips.
Hubert will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and cherish the memories he created for us.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 12, 2004, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Montreal Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 - 8:00 under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
