Obituary for Bruce Atkinson Jr.
Bruce "Bigfoot" A. Atkinson, Jr., 62, of Monrovia, unexpectedly passed from this life in his home, rejoining his beloved mother Kay, in heaven on Sunday morning, July 10, 2022. He was born in Indianapolis on June 16, 1960.

Spending his youth in the quiet small-town life of Monrovia, Bruce helped looked out for his younger brother Harold throughout the years, often partaking in typical boyhood shenanigans. He attended Monrovia High School with the class of 1980, when he secured employment with Thiesing Veneer in 1980, dedicating 42 years of service to the company, rarely missing a day, deservingly retiring this year.

Known to be a collector, he was a model train aficionado, and took pride in his set of model cars. Camping and four-wheeling were his guilty pleasures, frequently traveling to Haspin Acres in Laurel, IN, to see how far he could push his beloved jeep in the murkiest of mud. Quiet and reserved, Bruce made friends across the world through his shortwave and CB radios. Up to date on modern technology and highly intelligent in his own right, he knew the workings of mechanical thing inside and out. A truly unique individual, Bruce was kindhearted and soft spoken, and a man who found a way to do whatever his heart desired in his short time on earth. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
