Mary E. (Hicks) Alfrey age 67, resident of 41 Sherman Ave, died Sunday morning in Shelby Memorial Hospital, following a lingering illness. Born March 30, 1916 near Morehead Kentucky she was a Shelby resident 40 years. She was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include 4 sons Elwood of Shelby, James H. of Galion, Donald and Art both of Shelby; two daughters Nancy C. Hartge and Darlene both of Shelby; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother Russell Hicks of Shelby; six sisters Rosella Burns of Ashland, Mrs. Glen Evelyn Kaiser, Mrs. Shirley (Julie) Carter, Mrs. Vincil (Roxy) Wallace, Lorene Hioks, and Mrs. Grant Lizzie Ovens all of Kentucky, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1979 and two brothers Bernard and Ollie Hicks.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday from the Barkdull Funeral Home. Rev. Hill King of the Church Of God will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery, Friends may call at the Funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 9 p.m.
