Lewiston Evening Journal (Lewiston, Maine), Saturday, January 7, 1899, Page 32. Excerpt from an article in the Lewiston, Maine, Evening Journal, posted under the banner: "On Maines Historic Ground" [sic] which discusses Maine's cemeteries. The "old" cemetery at New Meadows, Maine with its Graves of Leading Pioneers of Brunswick, is currently known in the Find a Grave Website as the Gatchell Cemetery. There is a "newer" cemetery adjacent to this "old" cemetery known in Find a Grave as the New Meadows Cemetery. There are many graves in this old yard, referring to the Gatchell Cemetery, marked with ordinary field stones. Among the unmarked graves in this yard is one of David Douty, a son of James, a pioneer and proprietor of ancient Falmouth. David married Elizabeth [sic...other research shows David married Sarah Gatchell, daughter of Captain John Gatchell]. There are no grave stones to the earliest Douty family, but without doubt, they are buried in this cemetery. Tradition so says, and is probably correct. David Douty was a Louisburg soldier in 1745, and received a grant of land for this service, which was located in the present town of Standish, Maine. He soon sold it and took the money to add to his improvements in Brunswick, Maine. David Douty reared a considerable family. He died several years before his wife, Elizabeth [sic] who was living as late as 1803, when she gave valuable depositions before the court concerning some of the the earliest affairs of Brunswick. The depositions of Mrs. Douty and her brothers are in the court house, Portland, Maine.

David Douty, born about 1720, Falmouth, Maine; a Revolutionary War soldier, [DAR Ancestor No. A033406]; spouse: Sarah Gatchell.

The creator of this Memorial, with information from other researchers, compiled the likely children of David Douty and Sarah Gatchell, surname variously spelled Douty or Doughty (pronounced Dow-tee, NOT Doty). Hopefully this meager information inspires descendants to add their family history to Find a Grave:
