Child of James K. & Rebecca A. (UPTON) RENTFROW , who married 22 APR 1866 in Muscogee County, Georgia; this surname has many spellings in local records: RENFRO, RENFROE, RENFROW, RENTFRO, RENFROE, etc.

Burial record in the sexton's ledger book shows: a child of J. K. RENTFROW was stillborn in Alabama and was buried 22 FEB 1887 in the Letter A addition, Lot 149, as a non-resident of Columbus, Georgia. The sexton was Abraham ODOM.

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. Others reported to be in Lot 149 of the Letter A addition include: J. K. RENTFROW (01 MAR 1846--19 MAY 1910); Rebecca A. RENTFROW (07 JAN 1849--26 JUL 1911); Mrs. Minnie Bell RENTFROW (13 FEB 1872--27 JAN 1912); Napoleon B. SMITH (03 NOV 1855--05 FEB 1925); Dorothy RENTFROW (05 JUL 1923--16 MAR 1928); Mrs. J. D. RENTFROW (12 JUL 1892--22 MAR 1928; J. R. RENTFROW (born 1870, buried 13 NOV 1938); and Emma (RENTFROW) SMITH (17 OCT 1867--30 JUL 1957). All of these graves have inscribed monuments in Lot 34 (with J. K. RENTFROW on the threshold) of Section F in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 2. Also marked here is: Mahala RENTFROW (19 MAR 1871--31 OCT 1871), daughter of J. K. & R. A. RENTFROW. The sexton record shows this child was buried in city A-153, which was owned by James J. RENFROE, which is one row to the west from A-149. Either the owners list is incorrect, or perhaps this infant was buried in the wrong lot, A-149, and so that lot was deeded to the RENTFROW family and A-153 re-deeded. It was owned by Green BLAKELY and used by that family (Autry F-40, omitted from the Dowd edition).
