Joseph Orestus Walk was the youngest of seven known children of Charles Christian Walk (1805-1873) and Lydia Rothrock (1806-1877), who married 11 Dec 1827 at Friedberg, Arcadia Township, Davidson County, North Carolina.

Joseph married Mary Ester Belles (1849-1918) on 11 May 1873 at Edwards County, Illinois. Joseph and Mary were the parents of four known children, namely:

1. Charles Henry Walk (1875-1875)
2. Lora Mina Walk Calley Burleson (1877-1940)
3. John Thomas Walk (1880-1963)
4. Alice Minerva Walk (1884-1888)

The daughter Lora was born at Jackson County, Texas indicating that the family moved to Texas from Illinois shortly after Charles' death in Illinois in 1875. In 1880 Joseph (a farmer), Mary, Lora, John and Amanda Belles (age 15, born OH, sister of Mary) were living at Lavaca County, Texas. Did Mary remarry after the death of Joseph? Perhaps to a Mr. Kliovance? Does any one known where Joseph or Mary are buried?

Links to Joseph's parents, wife, one of his four known children and all of his six known siblings are included below.
