Born on March 18, 1931, at Abraham, he was the son of the late John Bennett and Reba Brogan Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was a former die maker for Regis Box Company in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a mechanic as a hobby in his spare time. He was a member of West Raleigh Baptist Church in Raleigh. Mr. Bennett served two tours of duty in Korea with the United States Army. He also enjoyed hunting and feeding wildlife.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters; a grandson Jonathan Shively, and great granddaughter Gracelyn Bennett.
Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Della McQuillen Bennett; three children, Reba Kay of Beckley, Stephen Wayne and wife Gina of Beckley, and Sharon and husband Max of Delaware. 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, WV on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 3 PM with Rev. Frank McQuillen and Rev. Mike McQuillen officiating. Burial will follow at the Goodson Cemetery at Bragg, WV. Friends may visit with the family from 1 PM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
