A heart attack early Saturday morning proved fatal to C. E. Hilleary, prominent local realtor, at his home in West Sonora where he and Mrs. Hilleary had resided for 37 years. He had suffered numerous previous attacks so that his death was not a great surprise to his many friends. Had Mr. Hilleary lived until Feb. 5, this Thursday. Feb. 5, he would have observed his 68th birthday.

Funeral rites were conducted from the Kramer Memorial chapel Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. Harley Brown, pastor of the West Sonora and Potsdam EUB churches. Burial was held in in Roselawn Cemetery. Masonic services were held Tuesday evening at the chapel by the local Masonic lodge of which he had been a member since 1923.

The funeral was delayed so that a 21-year-old grandson, Verlin Gebhart, could attend. He is in the Navy and stationed at San Diego, Calif. He arrived early Monday, sooner than anticipated.

Survivors include his widow, the former Eva Pease; two daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Edna) Fisher, who, with her husband, live in the Hilleary home, and Mrs. Deo (Blanche) Beachler of RR 1, Lewisburg; two brothers, Markey of Lewisburg and George of Cincinnati; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Mary) Bunger of near Lewisburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one step-grandson.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hilleary, Mr. Hilleary was born and reared in Lewisburg. Early in life, he learned the baking trade and later owned and operated a bakery and restaurant here for 11 years. Disposing of his business here, he then engaged in the baking and grocery business in West Sonora, which he followed for a number of years. Later he entered the produce business there. For a year or two while living in West Sonora, he operated a food market in West Manchester.

He had bought and sold farms for himself off and on for sometime, and in 1945 entered the real estate business and continued as a licensed realtor up to the time of his death. He handled many real estate deals and was quite successful in that field. He was a member of the Preble County Real Estate board and was highly respected by his fellow realtors.
