William Gladden, Sr.
Janie Belle was one of six children, all of whom predeceased her: William Charles Gladden,
Stephen Allen Gladden, Roe Gladden, Julia Gladden Alexander and Nannie Mae Gladden
Crosby.
Janie Belle spent her working career in the Insurance business, but what was most important in
her life was her family. Janie Belle lived a beautiful life in which she embraced all people. She
loved Jesus, her family and her friends deeply. She was a proud and active member of the
American Legion Auxiliary, Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church and Albemarle Road
Presbyterian Church Circle.
She is survived by her children Roy Marcus Winchester (Anne Frick), Thomas Winchester
(Carolyn), David Alexander, and Stephen Alexander (partner Arthur Payne); and son-in-law
Richard Elms. Grandchildren and great grandchildren left to cherish her memory are: Christi
Christian Schiano (John) and their children Vivian Olivia, and Seth Christian; Rhonda Savaria
(Evan); Connie Holmes and her son Colton Holmes; Robin Ouzts (Andrew) and her daughter
Hazel; Chris Winchester and children Thomas (TJ), Daniel and Seth Winchester; Alisa Alexander
Marquardt (Travis) and their children Ava and Ali; Ann Elms Councilman (Dale) and their
children Riley and Madalyn; and Robert Elms (Michelle) and son Grayson. In addition to her
parents, Janie Belle was predeceased by her spouse Carl Alexander who passed in 1998 and
spouse Roy Winchester who passed in 1953, as well as her daughter Carol Alexander Elms.
A memorial service in celebration of Janie Belle's life will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at
11:00 a.m. Heritage Funeral Home – Weddington Chapel.
