September 2, 1987 - June 30, 2022
Joseph Byron Todd died on June 30th, 2022 at his home in Atlanta, GA. Joseph was born on September 2, 1987 to Michael and Kaye Todd in Decatur, GA. A graduate of Greenville High School, Joseph held two master's degrees from Georgia Southern University.
Joseph was a world traveler who enjoyed planning his trips almost as much as the trips themselves. During his travels he enjoyed the ballet as well as concerts by two of his favorites Tori Amos and Pearl Jam. A lover of good food, Joseph would not only recommend a restaurant to you but he would also tell you the names of the bartender, waiter, owner, etc. as well as little bits about each of their lives and how he still kept in touch with them. "Be sure and tell them I sent you", would always end the conversation.
News of Joseph's death will need to spread throughout Emory Hospital, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Southern University where he both studied and worked, many home healthcare workers who became like family, his beloved city of Atlanta (every inch of it), and friends from all walks of life before this obituary's job is completed.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father Michael Byron Todd, maternal grandfather Harmon Delos Caldwell, paternal grandfather Byron Hooks Todd and his beloved Essie Mae Clark.
Joseph is survived by his mother Kaye Caldwell Todd of Gay, paternal grandmother Anne Massengale Todd of LaGrange, maternal grandmother Mary Alice Caldwell of Gay, aunts and uncles: David (Susan) Caldwell of Gay, DeeAnn (Ron) Cox of Athens, Jeff (Carol) Todd of LaGrange, longtime friend Jason DeTerra of Pooler and many cousins.
Funeral services to be held at Cox Funeral Home in Manchester, GA on Tuesday, July 5th at 11:00 am. Dr. Ken Dobbs will officiate. Private burial will take place in the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gay.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Emory University Hospital's Cardiovascular or Pulmonary Departments or to Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries.
