ADALADE "ADDIE" GERTRUDE HARGROVE-BRYARLY was born on 10 October 1857 in Homer, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, and she was the daghter of William Chester Hargrove (1825-1903) & Susan Evelyn Tippet (1836-1911); both also buried at S.S. City Cemetery.

Addie was a school teacher. She was raised in the Baptist Church, and became a member at the age of 12. She married Silas Wright Bryarly on 24 January 1878 at Elder Baptist Church in Hopkins County, Texas. Addie & Silas had 9 children:

Edgar Lee Bryarly (1878 - 1908),
Maud Pearl Evalin Bryarly (1880 - 1904),
Willie Odis Bryarly (1881-1882),
Walter Sterling Bryarly (1883 - 1942),
Lucy Kate Bryarly Moore (1885 - 1980),
Ruby Odell Bryarly Minter (1888 - 1929),
Bonnie Jewell Bryarly Clark (1889 - 1977),
Lena Gertrude Bryarly (1891-1891), and
Susie Eleanor Bryarly Gilbreth (1895 - 1975).

Doris Minter, Addie's granddaughter, remembers Addie as strict and in constant pain. Addie was diagnosed with breast cancer and was treated with medication that literally ate the cancer and her flesh. Addie passed away on 11 December 1925 at her home in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas. Addie was buried at the Sulphur Springs City cemetery.

From Dallas; take 30E towards Sulphur Springs, at S.S. take CR 19 N to CR 11 (There is a traffic light at the intersection; CR 11 is also called Houston St). Take CR 11/ Houston St to 7th Street and turn left (North), and the City Cemetery is up on the left side of the road. The first gate is closed, but the second gate is open & you may drive into the cemetery. Drive past the Cemetery building and take the first paved road to the lft. Drive all the way down this road and just before the fence you will see the Hargrove family Plot on the right (the last corner intersection with a big tree).
