Allen Hudon Bogan, 82, of Spartanburg, SC, died Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home following a long illness.

Born on January 9, 1926, he was a native of Glendale, SC, and the son of the late Jesse Cleveland Bogan, Sr. and Lavada Lee (Allen) Bogan and the husband of Evelyn (Black) Bogan.

During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine and was a decorated Navy Veteran, serving on ships in the European and South Pacific Theatres. Afterward, he accepted a commission in the Air Force and was called to duty during the Korean War. After twenty-six years of service, he retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant and later retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway. Mr. Bogan received many medals including the American Area Campaign Medal, the European Theater Campaign Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze State, the World War II Victory Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Bogan was a 32nd Degree Mason, St. John's Lodge, a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and a Southern Baptist.

In additions to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Kathleen Bogan of the home and of Oxford, England. Other survivors include two sisters, Cornelia Bogan Key, of Spartanburg and Helen Bogan Kelly of Taylors, SC; three brothers, Lorantz and Harold Bogan, both of Spartanburg and Larry Bogan of Woodruff; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m., Monday, January 14, 2008 at the graveside, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Graveside services followed at 3:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone.
