Mrs. Roberta Hooks, age 88, of Marksville, LA. passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Avoyelles Hospital.
Throughout her life, she lived with gentle grace and humble kindness. She devoted her life to being a loving mother and grandmother and a caring wife. She enjoyed gardening (with an emphasis on roses) and loved animals by taking in strays, especially cats.
She lived in accordance with her unwavering Catholic faith in which she served in the St. Joseph Altar Society and Catholic Daughters as well as teaching catechism to the youth in the parish. In 2008, she traveled to Europe, alongside her daughter and touched the healing waters of the Lourdes waterfalls, prayed with Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican City, strolled the majestic gardens of Versailles, and embraced the majestic architectural perfection of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Mrs. Hooks is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lamar Hooks III; parents, Ceran Robert, Sr. and Eliza Zimmer Guillot; brothers, Ceran Guillot, Jr. and Billy Guillot.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Williams Hooks of Marksville, LA; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hooks Baudoin (Ronnie) of Carencro, LA; one granddaughter, Alexis Barbry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.
