Herman "Ray" Barton, 84, passed away on May 23, 2022 at the McAlester Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1344 Mekko Road, McAlester, Oklahoma.

Ray was born on September 1, 1937 in Shattuck Oklahoma to Veta Pearl and Fred Barton. He was raised on the family farm and spent much of his young adult life as a steer wrestler, traveling to rodeos all over the United States. He later owned his own business building fences, worked as a surveyor for the Corps of Engineers and retired as a Materials Handler from the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in 1997.

In his spare-time, Ray enjoyed training coon dogs, breaking horses, and attending horse sales.

Ray is survived by his wife: Georgetta of McAlester; his daughters: Karmin (Jerry) Willson of McAlester, Debbie (Gary) Forrester of Abilene, Kansas, Marlo Barton of McAlester, and Toni (Jonna) Fletcher of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; his grandchildren: Cody Forrester, Jerod Forrester, Chloe Motely, Leah Hunter, Rhett Hunter, Caleb King, Sam King, Josh King, Lauren Burk, and Ava Burk; two great granddaughters: Kynlee Acosta, and Avery Motely; his brothers: Jim Barton, and Jack Barton; and his sister: Yonzell Vogt.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother: Robert Barton, and a daughter: Gina Raylyn Hunter.
