YORK John P. Accardo, 58, died Monday, January 21, 2008, at York Hospital, following a courageous four year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maria A. (Cantagallo) Accardo for 23 years. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Mr. Accardo was born July 24, 1949, in York, a son of Stella M. (Giuffrida) Accardo of York, and the late Philip P. Accardo. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He was an architect, most recently with the Commonwealth of PA Department of Labor and Industry as a plans examiner. He had previously been proprietor of Home Life Enclosures. He was a 1967 graduate of York Catholic High School, and was a graduate of Penn State University, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Mr. Accardo is survived, in addition to his wife and mother, by three children Stella Accardo, Philip Accardo, and Mary Accardo, all of York; a brother, Frank A. Accardo of York; and a sister, Concettina M. Vera and her husband, Tony of York.
